The Messiah’s Ministry: An Eternal Perspective

Mirror of the Sky II

Matthew 22:34-46

Christian musicians Brandon Heath and Jason Ingram wrote a song in 2008 about wanting to see the world as God would, and having a desire to view people with more compassion called “Give Me Your Eyes”. Here are some of the lyrics:
Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

How can we look at Life from God’s viewpoint?
* Focus on the Main Point
34-40 testing for the “right” answer
v34 they’re trying to trick Him (cf. v15)
v35/36 what’s the right answer? (test of orthodoxy)
v37/38 reply of action: LOVE God
v39 love people
v40 love in the vertical & horizontal (image of cross)

* Focus on the Master’s Presence
41-46 testing for understanding
v41/42 surface answer correct, BUT…
v43 watch the lines of authority (which Pharisees loved)
v44 David called the Messiah “Master/Lord”, (authority)
v45 How can David submit to Messiah’s authority if He hasn’t yet been born?
v46 Pharisees couldn’t admit the only way possible: that Messiah was God and human; if true, why not follow Him? So – they were silent.

The point of the Resurrection: Jesus proved He was God and Messiah. Let’s not be silent.

These nuggets you post are so very meaty….. for the hungry. For others…it’s tantalizing enough to lure one in.A peek through the mysterious door to riches beyond. I especially like your format. You don’t “Narrate”You plant the seed, kindle a question…Then layout the framework with only a “tab ‘A’ and slot ‘C'” to point a direction for ones own study and research.”You wanna get the whole message…go get it…dig for it, it’s right there.”This method encourages a love for God’s Word and inspires a life of familiarity with His voice.Discipleship. Thanks Ed…
