2011 Preaching Schedule

When I took classes on preaching at Bethel Seminary, one of the things they impressed upon me (thanks, Dr. Permenter!) was the need to plan ahead, to have a schedule of what will be covered during the year.

In 25 years of ministry, I’ve not experienced many pastors who plan that far ahead. Oh sure, there are the pastors who preach from the Lectionary, so I suppose you could say that they have a preaching schedule that rotates every three years… but when it comes down to practice, I’ve not seen it.

So, I feel as if I’m in somewhat uncharted waters, personally… but I’ve managed to come up with a general preaching schedule that will cover 2011. I thought I’d post it, and see if 1) anyone has any thoughts about it, and 2) anyone reads this blog.

Well, that should certainly give me something to think about this year! Now, if I can just recruit a Creative Worship team, we now have a schedule far enough in advance to add some really interesting additional content to our worship services.
